What I remember most about him is that every day he would wake up at 6 a.m. bringing me along with him to the gym (even when it was raining).” Once you’ve taken the initial micro-step, the rest “simply appears to fall into place.”
Sarah, 37, was close friends with Karl, who died in 2019 from brain cancer following a long fight.
In the mornings, he’d wake me up at 6 am and drag me to the gym, where he’d put on his shoes and head out the door, no matter the weather. …once you’ve taken the initial micro-step, the rest of the process just falls into place.”
37-year-old Sarah shared a special bond with her friend Karl, who died in 2019 after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
The actress tells New Idea that the moment her late brother walked her down the aisle at her wedding to James Stewart is a memory she will treasure forever, calling him her “guardian angel.”
“I’m very thankful that we were able to spend that time together before he went away,” she says, expressing her gratitude. What a blessing it was for me to have a brother like Karl who taught me so much; even though I would give anything to have him here in person, I feel like he’s always watching over me and directing my path..”
My future self, the man who had helped mold me into the woman I’d become, was now walking me down the aisle of my life. Looking back, I have the confident sensation that everything would be okay, because he guided me here.”
For Sarah, the pandemic’s emotional tolls felt like “a drop in the ocean” compared to the sadness she felt after losing her husband, Karl.
In the aftermath of Karl’s death, Sarah felt that “nothing could rip my heart out the way losing my older brother had,” she explains.
“I suppose the whole globe is grieving for a world we once knew since grief is so fickle and unexpected.” Everybody is going through a transition, and I suppose we’re all getting used to a new way of life.
I feel that when we’re ready, the beauty in recognizing how we all put ourselves back together may be found.”
When it comes to her mental health, Sarah, a 37-year-old mother of two, says she’s been eating better, engaging in activities she enjoys, and getting more sleep in order to maintain her “headspace.”
The singer, who admits she is an “anxious person” who has now been getting more sleep and noting the impact this has had on both her physical and mental wellbeing, has clearly shone since having more time to prioritize herself.
Friends have commented on how amazing my skin looks since wrapping up filming on Home & Away, and I know it’s all because of the Healthy Care Collagen Sleep tablets I’ve been taking and the quality sleep I’ve been getting. Huzzah!”
Sarah has been prioritizing her family as well as her health. Scout Marais, her husband James’s stepdaughter, is nine years old and lives with her stepmother.
She calls Scout “lovely on the inside and out” as she gushes over her.
In addition to her love of art, she’s a drama queen like her father, and she also has the most heart for a child her age..” “the disc jockey informs us.
“If Scout has her heart set on anything, I believe she can accomplish everything she puts her mind to.
That growing-up thing is going to happen far too fast!
Is Sarah returning to Home & Away in the near future? According to the actress, it’s not out of the question.
“I had a wonderful time at Summer Bay, and if the timing was good, I would definitely return,” she says.
Willow started off as a fiery and charismatic figure; I cherish the days when she strutted her stuff about the bay in her boots and leathers!” As if it wasn’t enough, the actors and crew became my extended family. Thank you for your efforts to keep in touch.
However, Willow is simply one of Sarah’s many hats. Aside from her work as an actress, the actress-turned-DJ is half of the DJ duo VAMP with her best friend Kate Lister. Sarah, on the other hand, says she plans to return to the studio shortly.
As a member of VAMP, I’d like to record more songs, get back into singing, and perform at more shows. COVID has been difficult since we’ve both been in separate places and have had limited access to dance floors, but it’s so lovely to share and make memories with your best friend while doing things you love and make you happy.”
Wog Boys Forever, a comedy created by Nick Giannopoulos, will include Sarah in a supporting role.
Summer Bay’s serious storylines made working on a comedy a refreshing change of pace, according to the actress.
To work on a comedy after four years of serious drama on Home & Away was like a breath of fresh air,” says the former cast member. Every day at work being able to laugh was such a gift.
After all the hardships of the last few years, I believe that (Wog Boys Forever) will be a welcome release for audiences in the second half of this year. It’s a comedy, a feel-good movie, and I believe it will be exactly what fans have been waiting for when it’s published.”
