From Britain’s Got Talent to Albert Square – Sydnie Christmas is eyeing up a role in EastEnders as a ‘long-lost’ Mitchell cousin after making triumphant music return

Britain’s Got Talent star Sydnie Christmas has her sights set on Albert Square – The Kent-born singer/songwriter reckons she’d fit right in with the loud-mouthed Mitchell family and has already got a storyline in mind ready to pitch to the bosses at the BBC soap.

Sydnie, who’s released brilliant original single Run, has revealed she wants to swap the stage for the soap and make her small-screen debut in Walford.

She told the Daily Star: “I would love to do a bit of a telly, I’d love to audition for EastEnders.

“I can see myself being a Mitchell – I could be a long, long, lost cousin making an appearance or Janine’s [Bucther] sister she didn’t know she had!”

Sydnie’s already proven to be a brilliant actress with several theatre roles under her belt, including most recently playing Cruella De Vil in a West End production of 101 Dalmations.

However, there’s another BBC show Sydnie is keen to sign up for – Strictly Come Dancing – She admitted she’d love to improve her 1, 2 step.

The 30-year-old confessed: “I would love to go on Strictly so much, I haven’t danced since I tried to learn how to do it at college.

“I was just there at the back giving it the elbow from Inbetweeners, that was me, but I loved it as much as I loved singing, but I just wasn’t actually gifted.

“So to be able to get properly trained like that… “I’d love to experience it despite if I’m good or naff!”

Sydnie’s timeless covers of classics such as Frank Sinatra’s My Way saw her crowned the winner of BGT in 2024, but now she’s keen to build a portfolio of original self-penned songs.

Her debut original single Run proves she’s a gifted songwriter and she’s currently “piecing together” an album she hopes will be released by the end of the year.

She said: “Writing is such a hard process and it’s very hard not to think about trying to write a hit, when there’s no easy recipe for that. “Actually, what you need to do is just write from the heart and be honest and that’s what I’ve been doing writing for my new album. I’ve been writing songs since I was 11 and writing this album is a journey I’ve longed to be on since then.”
