EastEnders fans are predicting that a new whodunnit is set to grip Albert Square
EastEnders viewers believe a chilling new murder plot could be unfolding in Albert Square following signs that Nicola Mitchell’s days are numbered.
The drama intensified last week as Harry Mitchell, played by the talented Elijah Holloway, was stunned to unearth the grim reality about his vanished love, Shireen Bashar.
Viewers who have been following the BBC drama know too well that Nicola, portrayed by Laura Doddington, was the one who ended Shireen’s life four years back, unfairly letting Harry shoulder the blame until Benji found himself behind bars.
But the plot thickened this past Monday (May 5) when a troubled Harry received more heart-wrenching news—this time from ex-flame Penny Branning (Kitty Castledine).
Seeing a despondent Harry, Penny reached out with an apology for her previous accusations over Shireen’s demise. However, her next words were of a dark admission she’d held back from him, reports Plymouth Live.
Her startling confession was: “I don’t know how to say this, and I don’t even know if I should be saying it, but when I met her neighbour Felicity, she told me something. Something that I think you have the right to know.”
Subsequently, a shell-shocked Harry confronted his folks with an unexpected revelation after learning yet another haunting detail—that at the time Shireen was killed, she was expecting his child.
Reeling from the newfound knowledge, Harry turned to his parents and burst out the agonizing truth: “You killed her… and my baby.”
The episode spiraled further as Nicola cautioned Zack Hudson (James Farrar) against disclosing to Teddy that he’s actually the father of her son Barney (Lewis Bridgeman) threatening not just his family ties but their safety as well.
Amidst all this, Barney struggled with his own turmoil, his mother wielding the threat of deserting him once more.
EastEnders fans are now speculating that Nicola may meet a grisly end as she continues to make enemies within her own family and in Walford.
One fan took to Reddit, writing: “I think Teddy could possibly murder Nicola if he loses Harry through her ‘Shireen Shenanigans’ and then he loses the one “Son” he thought he had left in Barney then when the whole Zack being Barney’s real Dad explodes.”
Another fan suggested how Nicola’s fate might turn into a murder mystery, saying; “It can be a whodunnit with: Barney, Teddy, Zack, Harry, Ravi, Gina? ? As potential suspects if it comes to that.”
Meanwhile, on X, another viewer expressed: “The more stuff comes out the more I legit want to see Nicola get thrown off a cliff #EastEnders.
“One fan shared their thoughts, stating: “Somehow I don’t think Harry is going to forgive Nicola and Teddy #EastEnders and I do not blame him, Nic killed his pregnant girlfriend”.
Another added: “I need Asad to come back and team up with Harry and Teddy to take down Nicola!”.
