EastEnders fans were thrilled to see Nina Gupta return to Walford three years after her husbands murder

EastEnders has brought back a recognisable character after Ravi Gulati murdered villainous Ranveer in August 2022.

As devotees of the BBC soap will recall, Ravi (Aaron Thiara) is battling with his mental health and last week he mistakenly lashed out at Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) after dozing off in The Queen Vic.

Another intense nightmare also witnessed him nearly strike his girlfriend, Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy), all of which has left Ravi feeling utterly defeated.

During Monday’s (April 20) trip to Walford, Ravi’s mental state continued its downward spiral, and he once more self-harmed, but this time he required emergency medical care.

Priya rushed Ravi to the hospital with a severe wound to his leg, though he pleaded with Priya not to reveal to the doctors what had occurred. She refused and implored Ravi to be honest, as he desperately needs help with his mental health struggles, reports OK!.

While lying on a hospital bed, the doctor entered the room to treat Ravi, and in a surprising reunion, it was Nina Gupta (Hersha Verity).

The former GP at the local Panesar Surgery was wed to wicked Ranveer Gulati (Anil Goutam) and first turned up in Walford in 2022 before last being seen in November of that same year.

In a shocking twist, Nina was covertly involved with Ravi, Ranveer’s non-biological son, and the duo were determined to pilfer all of Ranveer’s wealth.

Ranveer met his end at Ravi’s hands after he tried to sexually assault Suki Panesar-Unwin (Balvinder Sopal).

At the time, Suki was convinced that she had dealt the fatal blow to the sinister businessman, but Ravi was actually responsible after confronting Ranveer in a clandestine follow-up encounter, before getting rid of the corpse.

After Ranveer’s demise, Ravi and Nina parted company when video evidence of the assault emerged. Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) was also exposed as Ravi’s biological father.

Ravi planned to frame Suki for the killing if the authorities came knocking, but he eventually had second thoughts and decided to shield his stepmother, Suki. Nina subsequently departed Walford after Ravi was exposed as betraying her.

As Nina was reunited with her ex-partner, Ravi, on Monday, he was shocked to encounter her, while Priya was equally displeased by her arrival.

Nevertheless, Priya informed Nina that Ravi had self-harmed and, following a private assessment, she confirmed she wouldn’t need to alert the authorities, though she encouraged Ravi to seek assistance.

EastEnders viewers have been expressing their delight at the character’s return, with one person posting on X: “I was literally talking about Nina to some people a couple of days ago, wondering what she’s up to! Hopefully, we see more of her!! #EastEnders.”

A second declared: “NINA GUPTA #EastEnders”, while a third added: “Nina???? #eastenders.”

“I’m glad they bought back Nina for this episode cause even though this sl was triggered by the drugs and the spiking, I think it reminds people that everything genuinely stems from Ranveer and Nish #eastenders,” another chimed in.
