Scarlett Alice Johnson took over the role of Vicki Fowler, with the majority of EastEnders viewers associating her the most with the role, however, she decided not to return
Scarlett Alice Johnson will be best known to people for portraying Vicki Fowler in EastEnders.
While she might not have been the first, she will be the most familiar to soap fans due to her take on teen Vicki in the noughties.
Vicki Fowler was born to 16-year-old Michelle Fowler who got pregnant by her best-friend Sharon Watts ‘ father, Den Watts.
While her family wanted her to have an abortion, she decided to keep the baby and not tell anyone about her daughter’s true paternity.
Vicki was born in 1986 and has been portrayed by four different actresses. Younger versions of the character were played by Emma Herry and Samantha Leigh Martin until Scarlett took on the role of teenage Vicki.
She appeared in the soap for the first time in 2003 after running away from home. She turned up in Watford and moves in with her sister Sharon.
During her time there, she was involved with an older man and got pregnant by Spencer Moon. Her sister Sharon, who thought she was infertile, offered her money for the baby, but she decided to have an abortion instead.

Vicki departed the show after overhearing her father say that he didn’t love her as much as he loved Sharon.
She was mentioned again over the following years, with Sharon staying with her in America at one point as she recovered from surgery.
In 2025, Vicki has returned to EastEnders, however, this time she is being portrayed by Alice Haig.
It was reported that Scarlett had been asked to return to the soap, but decided not to.
“Scarlett was approached, and was flattered to be asked to return, but the timing wasn’t right for her to step back into the role. She wishes Alice Haig and the show all the very best,” a spokesperson for Scarlett told The Sun.
Since leaving the show, she has continued to act. She starred in six episodes of the comedy show Beaver Falls between 2011 and 2012 and in the sitcom Pramface for two years.
Scarlett also married her Pramface co-star Sean Michael Verey in 2017. The couple also worked together on the stage production of Radiant Vermin.
