Christie Hayes, who played Kirsty Phillips on the iconic television show Home and Away for more than ten years, has claimed that pop icon Britney Spears was previously slated to make a guest appearance on the show.
Hayes made the accusation during her breakfast radio broadcast on Hit100.9 in Hobart.
“She was a fan of watching Home and Away when she was in England . . . she was written into this short sequence which was her rushing through the diner and her character name was just ‘beautiful girl’,” Hayes revealed.
The majority of the cast, according to the former actor, was in favour of having Spears join Home and Away, with the exception of Ray Meagher, who believed she would shatter the show’s illusion.
After the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York on September 11, Spears’ character apparently got cut from the show.
The security crew for Spears was worried about her travelling to Australia to shoot the scenes.
After criticising her family for “making a fool” of her and claiming that her “womanhood was damaged,” Spears announced the news.
The 40-year-old singer posted a video of herself singing on Instagram along with a critical message for her family and past managers. She was released from her conservatory in 2021 after 13 years.
Jamie-Lynn Spears sang a remixed version of Britney’s famous song “Baby One More Time” at the Radio Disney Music Awards in 2017, and Britney expressed her dissatisfaction that she was never permitted to record a fresh version.
