Home and Away Spoilers – Logan Bennett leaves Summer Bay

Logan Bennett, a character from Australia’s Home and Away, discreetly snuck out of Summer Bay in today’s episode…

Logan has had an exciting few weeks, which included learning the truth about Mackenzie’s (Emily Weir) finance woes only days before he was wrongfully accused with hazardous driving resulting in death.

Logan appears to have had enough of the drama, and he has abruptly left Summer Bay to return to his former life.

Logan paced around in his office early in Monday’s Australian show, which UK fans will see in mid-July.

After making his decision, he called and told the person on the other end that he wanted to talk to someone about re-listing in the medical corps.

Mackenzie (Sam Frost) was having coffee with Jasmine at the same time, and she informed Jasmine that while things had been awful recently, she hoped she hadn’t broken things so terribly that they couldn’t be restored.

Mac decided she needed to go to the hospital to clear the air after Jasmine told her Logan had been “all over the shop” at work.

It was too late by the time Mac arrived at Northern Districts Hospital.

She inquired of a passing doctor if he had seen Logan, but he informed her that Dr. Bennett had recently resigned – he didn’t have any further details, but he’d been assigned to replace him!

Logan had apparently gotten his dream of re-enlisting in the army and had abruptly left Summer Bay without so much as a farewell.

Mackenzie dialled his number and left a voicemail for him. Logan afterwards apologised for not informing her of his departure and explained that he didn’t realise he was going until he was almost on his way.

“You’re an amazing woman Mac, I mean that,” he said as he ended the message. “Be happy.”

Logan’s quick leave has occurred without fanfare, but the character’s departure has been anticipated for some time.

Back in January, Seven made the rare action of announcing Harley Bonner’s departure from the show, explaining that the actor would not be returning after the Christmas production break.

“When production resumes in the coming weeks, Channel Seven can confirm Harley will not be returning to Home and Away.” In a statement, Seven said. “We send Harley go with our best wishes and heartfelt gratitude for his contributions to the show.”

Although no further information about Harley’s decision to resign were provided, the announcement was made two days before Seven’s need that all staff be completely vaccinated against Covid-19 took effect.

Logan has only been in Summer Bay for ten months, having made his debut as part of the medical response unit at Dean’s (Patrick O’Connor), Mia’s (Anna Samson), and Nikau’s (Kawakawa Fox-Reo) vehicle accident.

While transporting a critically injured Dean to the hospital, Logan clashed with Tori Morgan (Penny McNamee), the head of emergency, over the best course of treatment.

Logan, who was based in Reefton Lakes at the time, arrived in Summer Bay on his jetski the following week and quickly ran into an old acquaintance, Christian Green (Ditch Davey). Logan and Christian had previously met while Logan was serving in the army as a medical officer and Christian was participating in the Doctors Without Borders programme.

Things became awkward when Christian asked Logan over for dinner, only for Logan to discover that Christian was engaged to Tori.

Logan struck up a friendship with Dean’s sister Mackenzie, who thanked him for saving Dean’s life, although she declined his offer of a drink. He gave Ziggy his phone number to send to Mac, and Ziggy took it upon herself to respond to Logan on Mac’s behalf in an effort to reunite them.

When Logan was brought into the department with a concussion received during another rescue, Tori had to deal with him as a patient. Tori grudgingly consented to Christian’s proposal that Logan stay with them overnight for observation, frustrated by his resolve to find something to do on the ward rather than stay in bed sleeping.

Logan continued to irritate Tori, but made amends the next morning by cleaning up and preparing them breakfast… before returning to work.

Logan and Mac kissed and slept together after the initial stumbling blocks. Mac discovered Logan’s past to be elusive as the two got to know each other.

Logan came to Dean’s help when he refused to take his pain medication, fearing he might have problems after a horrible experience with sleeping medications. He eventually persuaded Dean to let him give him a morphine injection to help him sleep, and he kept an eye on him at the farmhouse all night before convincing him to take his prescription.

Logan resigned from his position as a visiting doctor at Northern Districts Hospital after learning that his unit was shifting from Reefton Lakes to somewhere farther up the coast. He wanted to stay in Summer Bay and continue his romance with Mac, so he resigned.

Logan was present during the gas assault at Salt, which resulted in dozens of people being exposed to poisonous organophosphate, and he performed an emergency tracheotomy on Tane Parata (Ethan Browne).

He treated and discharged Marilyn (Emily Symons), but when she became paralysed, he was forced to place her into an induced coma.

Logan was offered the position of head of emergency after Tori left, and he successfully resurrected a comatose Tane with some experimental medications, but was perplexed to learn of Marilyn’s personality change when she awoke from her own coma.

Logan used a tarot card session to quiz Marilyn after she refused to return to the hospital after walking out, but she immediately saw through him and filed an official complaint, alleging that his first discharge of her was negligent.

Logan was enraged even more when Dean hopped on the bandwagon, wondering if Tori’s original plan after the car accident, which Logan had rejected, would have meant he’d be further along in his recuperation and thus able to surf again.

Alf eventually persuaded Marilyn to speak with Logan, who showed her the mistake of her ways, and Logan and Dean reconciled over beer and pizza. He went on to help Dean prepare to surf again in secret, and he was later cleared of any wrongdoing in Marilyn’s accusation.

Mac invited him to live with her and Bella at the pier apartment, but he was taken aback when his ex-girlfriend Neve Spicer (Sophie Bloom) appeared in Summer Bay barely a week later.

The two had been stationed in Afghanistan as army medical professionals two years prior, but Neve had gone missing when they were transferred to Germany. Logan had assumed she was dead and had eventually left the service after being questioned about her whereabouts on a regular basis.

Neve said that she couldn’t bear returning to Afghanistan, and Logan quickly realised she was suffering from PTSD. Logan resolved to cure Neve himself, knowing that if she was discovered, she would face prison.

Neve had only come to Summer Bay to rekindle her relationship with Logan, and she had originally refused to admit she had a problem. Logan threatened to go to the military police until she let him help her, and she was heartbroken to learn he had moved on with Mac and planned to leave the bay.

Mac promptly offered to have Neve remain with them at the flat, with the intention of keeping her ‘enemy’ close, but it became too much for Mac, who gave Logan an ultimatum. Mac was taken aback when he moved into a motel room with Neve, unwilling to give up on her.

Despite his good intentions in sleeping on Neve’s motel room couch, Logan got Dean’s anger when he was punched in the face for injuring Mac.

Mac eventually persuaded Neve to turn herself in to the military police, knowing that Logan would never forgive himself if he had made the call. As she faced a possible seven years in prison, he swore to always be there for her.

Logan was forced to inform the Paratas that Ari (Rob Kipa-Williams) was suffering from aggressive cancer and was perplexed by Mac’s reaction after his death. Ziggy was the one who informed him that the tumultuous relationship Mac had previously mentioned, in which she had miscarried a child after being dumped, was in reality with Ari. Logan had a sneaking suspicion that Mac was still in love with Ari, but after devising her own method of closure, she was able to ensure that this was not the case.

When a debt collector called for Mac, Logan was taken aback, but she quickly explained that there had been a mix-up with a direct debit. Logan offered financial assistance, but Mac insisted she was covered. Logan paid off the loan anyhow, which irritated her, and she swore to repay him.

Logan had no idea that Mac was deeply in debt following the denial of an insurance claim for the gas attack at Salt, and that she had spent several weeks fooling Logan by hosting illegal poker evenings at Salt.

The rising number of covert discussions Mac was having with her coworkers raised suspicions, but Mac was able to deflect suspicions by suggesting she was planning a surprise for him. He was appeased when she later presented him with a vacation to the Hunter Valley, for which Ziggy had given up his tickets to assist out.

Logan supported the Stewarts throughout Martha’s desire to have her kidney transplant, but he had to tell them that she was no longer strong enough. He collaborated with Roo on a positive thinking approach to help Martha lower her blood pressure.

Logan was in a terrible automobile accident on the Reefton Lakes route the following week. Neither Logan nor Millie Hudson (Zara Zoe), the other car’s driver, could recall the circumstances of the accident, which had killed Millie’s best friend Jo.

When the police enquiry determined that Logan was speeding at the time of the accident, it seemed inevitable that he was to blame and that he would soon lose everything.

When Logan was sent to Salt to assist Tane, who had been stabbed, it was the beginning of the end. Mac encouraged Logan to trust them instead of calling an ambulance since she and Tane didn’t want the cops involved. Logan sent Dean out with a list of items to ‘acquire’ from the hospital, and Mac admitted that it was all because she was $50k in debt. Logan stayed with Tane all night, transfusing his own blood, till Tane eventually improved the next day.

Logan moved out of the apartment, preferring to be away from Mac, and began sleeping in his hospital office.

After conman PK (Ryan Johnson) was found dead, Flick told Logan that PK had tried to get Mac into bed, and she’d almost done it to repay him for her ‘debt.’ All of this was too much for Logan, who reminded Mac that he’d volunteered to help her countless times before announcing the end of their relationship.

If that wasn’t enough, Logan was charged with risky driving resulting in death only a few days later. Logan showed up inebriated at the surf club, asking to speak with Mac, since his life was slowly being pulled apart.

Logan’s soul had been destroyed, even though he later realised that he was not to blame for the accident after Millie finally admitted that she had taken her eyes off the road to look at her phone. When Roo was taken to the hospital after her stitches broke, he was abrupt with her, and when Jasmine confronted him about it, he refused to listen.

Logan realised what he had to do when Jasmine told him not to lose sight of what he loved doing, and he called the army…
