Home and Away’s Tristan Gorey : ‘I want to win that Logie’

The new golden boy of Summer Bay is flying the flag for Home and Away at this year’s Logie Awards.

The new golden boy of Summer Bay is proud to represent Home And Away at the 2024 TV WEEK Logie Awards.

“I feel so privileged to have booked a role on the show,” the 29-year-old tells TV WEEK. “Jobs I’ve worked on before this have felt special, but Home And Away is just so iconic.

“Ask any Australian, ‘Hey, what’s Home And Away?’ and they’ll know exactly what it is. It’s part of the Australian lexicon.”

The actor, who plays heart-throb doctor Levi Fowler, has built a strong fan base in his short time on the show, and stoked the interest of critics too, earning a TV WEEK Logie nomination this year – the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent.

“When they broke the news [of his nomination], I was like, ‘Are you sure you don’t have the wrong cast member?’” he says. “It took me a second to really understand what was happening. But as time has gone on, I’ve had more of a chance to think about it, and it’s a really special acknowledgement.”

Tristan adds that he feels “ecstatic that my character is resonating with people”.

“That’s the biggest compliment I could ever receive,” he says.

The actor acknowledges that his first nomination is also a first for the show: Home And Away hasn’t been nominated for any awards this year. Tristan says he’s determined to “bring it home” for them.

“They [the cast] have all been so lovely, which is special,” he says. “Everyone – from Ray [Meagher, who plays Summer Bay stalwart Alf Stewart] all the way to the newest cast member – has come up to congratulate me.

“It feels special to be acknowledged by the team and people I admire, so my competitive streak wants to bring back a Logie for them. It’s such a difficult category [to win] – all the other nominees are phenomenal, so they’ve got some really tough competition. But at the end of the day, the nomination itself is a win.”
