Johnny Ruffo’s partner Tahnee Sims shares heartbreaking message three months after Home and Away star’s tragic death

Johnny Ruffo’s girlfriend Tahnee Sims has shared a heartbreaking message to social media, three months after the actor’s tragic cancer death.

Tahnee, 30, took to Instagram on Sunday to share recent snaps of her life without Johnny and included a touching note.

The quote, written by American novelist Anne Lamott, read: ‘You will lose someone you can’t live without, and your heart will be badly broken, and the bad news is that you never completely got over the loss of your beloved’.

But the good news is that this as well. They never go away from your damaged heart because it never closes again.

“And you succeed.” It’s similar to having a broken leg that never fully heals; even in the winter, it still hurts, but you learn to move with the limp.

Tahnee’s followers were quick to comment their love and support.

Home and Away veteran Lynne McGranger wrote: ‘So good to see you smiling again’.

‘Good to see you have lovely people around you, lifting you up,’ another follower commented.

It occurs three months after Johnny passed away quietly in the company of his loved ones and his lifelong companion Tahnee.

Following a medical visit for excruciating headaches in 2017, Johnny was initially diagnosed with brain cancer.

He had a 7cm brain tumor surgically removed from his frontal lobe in August of that year after being sent for chemotherapy and radiation treatment.

After receiving his first diagnosis in 2017, Johnny experienced months of remission until disclosing in November 2020 that the illness had resurfaced.

He disclosed in August 2022 that his brain cancer was terminal and expressed concern about Tahnee, his partner, handling his loss.

Born in the Perth suburb of Balcatta, Johnny’s showbusiness career began when he successfully auditioned for the third season of The X Factor Australia in 2011.

After being mentored by Guy Sebastian, Ruffo was the last contestant eliminated in the competition, which was ultimately won by Reece Mastin.

A music career followed, with Johnny releasing several hit singles including On Top and Take It Home.

But he is perhaps best known for starring as fan favourite Chris Harrington on Home and Away between 2013 and 2016.

He also appeared on that show’s soap rival Neighbours in 2020.
