EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy is set to front a new BBC documentary series next month as she takes on different career.
BBC viewers were left devastated when Natalie Cassidy confirmed she’d be departing Walford.
The actress had portrayed Sonia Fowler for 32 years, while taking occasional breaks in between, and has been central to some of the soap’s most distressing storylines.
However, last Spring she said goodbye to EastEnders once more as Sonia departed for a fresh start with Bex, Bianca and baby Julia, choosing not to accompany her estranged father Terry (Glen Davies) to Bali.
Now, one year following her exit from the BBC soap, admirers of Natalie Cassidy are poised to witness her on screen again in an entirely different capacity.

Pursuing her long-held dream to train as a carer, the 42 year old will be studying at one of the UK’s leading Health and Social Care colleges, reports OK!.
A synopsis for the programme, entitled Natalie Cassidy: Caring Together, states: “Across eight episodes, she’ll study, train, and work alongside health and social care students, care professionals, volunteers and home carers – facing the realities, the heartbreak, and the joy of caring.
“Together they’ll be putting the spotlight on a dilemma we’ll all face at some point in our lives – who will care for our parents, our partners, our children… and who will care for us?”

The forthcoming programme will broadcast during Caring Matters week on the BBC, which will unite programming to reflect the realities of caring in the UK today.
Beginning on Saturday, 23 May through to Saturday, 30 May, Caring Matters week will highlight the experiences of unpaid carers and the vital role they fulfil in families and communities nationwide.
Additional programmes appearing alongside Natalie Cassidy: Caring Together will include a special edition of Bargain Hunt, featuring experts Nick Hall and Izzie Balmer assisting their teams of carers in Nottinghamshire.

Meanwhile, Rev. Kate Bottley will commemorate the launch of the BBC’s ‘Caring Matters’ season with a special Songs of Praise, while EastEnders will centre on Will Mitchell trying to balance caring for his sister Janet while supporting his family.
The One Show will also examine the lives of those looking after family members and the strains they face, as Morning Live will spotlight unpaid carers and the crucial role they perform throughout the week.
