In the UK version of Neighbours, Hendrix struggles as the Rodwell family moves into Number 26 – they serve as a daily reminder of his health problems. Will a trip to Sydney aid in his emotional recovery?
These scenes will premiere in the UK on Monday, May 9th, and in Australia on Wednesday, June 8th.
Andrew (Lloyd Will), Wendy (Candice Leask), and their daughter Sadie (Emerald Chan) have slowly been introduced to us over the last six months.
Levi’s (Richie Morris) employer at the police station is Sergeant Andrew Rodwell. He first appeared in 2018 as a Police Constable, played by David Lamb, but he reappeared in late 2020 with a promotion and a new actor.
Sadie was introduced alongside Aubrey Laing (Etoile Little), two teenagers who feigned to befriend Zara (Freya Van Dyke) in order to expel her from Erinsborough High.
They planned to start a series of fires and blame them on Zara, culminating in a massive fire at Erinsborough High that trapped Zara and Mackenzie (Georgie Stone).
Zara managed to escape through an air vent, but Hendrix (Ben Turland) was forced to run into the school and rescue Mackenzie, who couldn’t climb into the vent due to her broken arm.
Wendy was first seen alongside her husband at the police ball, and Roxy (Zima Anderson) later befriended her in an attempt to get Andrew to keep Levi away from Freya (Phoebe Roberts).
Recent months have seen Sheila (Colette Mann) vacate No. 26 to move to the states, where she’s helping daughter Naomi (Morgana O’Reilly) after the death of her partner.
While Kyle (Chris Milligan) and Levi initially planned to buy the place off their gran, they were pipped to the post by the Rodwells, who have now bought the house and are moving into Ramsay Street.
The Rodwells transfer their stuff into their new home this week as the moving trucks arrive on Ramsay Street.
They’re overjoyed with their new digs, but they have no idea that Hendrix is suffering from a significant health problem as a result of Sadie’s acts down the hall.
Hendrix has been coughing uncontrollably for the past several weeks. When he went to the doctor, he was surprised to hear he has sarcoidosis, an inflammatory disease produced by hazardous chemicals inhaled during the Erinsborough High fire.
Unfortunately for Hendrix, the generally treatable illness has progressed to pulmonary fibrosis, necessitating a lung transplant.
He’s heartbroken, but the news is made even worse when the Rodwells move in next door. The family’s presence serves as a daily reminder of Sadie’s health issue, as he set the fire.
He seeks comfort from the Kennedys and Mackenzie, who try to divert Hendrix’s attention away from his family for fear of triggering him. Wendy Rodwell, on the other hand, appears to be everywhere, and her presence makes him feel even worse.

Sadie’s arrival on Ramsay Street has an impact on Zara (Freya Van Dyke). She is, however, willing to put the past behind her and clear the air with Sadie.
Things grow heated when Zara goes to No. 28 in the hopes of clearing the air with Hendrix as well. Hendrix breaks when Sadie’s name is mentioned, and informs Zara about his illness and how it’s all because of Sadie.
He begs her to keep quiet, but he doesn’t have to worry about Zara, as the news quickly spreads throughout the street…
In the wake of their nightmare barbecue, the Rodwells consider moving away but they don’t think they can afford it.
After an olive branch from the Kennedys, they decide to stay and make it work with their new neighbours.
Meanwhile, Hendrix tries to come to grips with the fact that his illness is known to the entire street. The violence around him makes it worse, but Levi (Richie Morris) helps him start to work through his feelings.
Now that his secret has been revealed, he must confront his family, and he decides to travel to Sydney to do so.
Hendrix is emotionally overwhelmed after seeing how his friends and the Kennedys have reacted to the diagnosis, and he decides not to tell his family.
When he and Mackenzie arrive in Sydney hoping for a stress-free trip, they take a trip down memory lane before visiting his family – father Pierce (Tim Robards), mother Lisa (Jane Allsop) and sister Alanna.
Hendrix tries to keep his illness a secret, but he’s forced to tell them when Alanna notices his strange behaviour.
Thankfully, they’re nothing but supportive, and will do anything to get him the care he needs.
Then, with the support of his loved ones, Hendrix decides to take a huge step forward…
