Coming up this week on Home and Away in Australia, Mackenzie learns her fate as she attends court, whilst Chloe uncovers a lucrative family secret…
Mackenzie Booth’s (Emily Weir) day of reckoning has finally arrived, as she appears in court to be punished for organising illegal poker sessions at Salt.
With her restaurant Salt on the verge of bankruptcy, it was employee Felicity’s (Jacqui Purvis) idea that led Mac down a path that, while initially profitable, quickly engulfed several people in a web of lies and deception.
When gambler and conman PK (Ryan Johnson) was discovered dead, Mac’s brother Dean (Patrick O’Connor) was the leading suspect.
The poker sessions became known to the police once the real culprit Nathan (Ryan Panizza) ultimately confessed to killing him, thanks to a little help from Dean and his River Boy comrades.
Mac fell on her sword and delivered a full confession, exonerating Flick from any responsibility, after Cash was forced to arrest his own sister for organising them.
“A lot of relationships are thrust into immediate strain from the poker nights,” Emily told TV Week. “Mackenzie feels responsible for most of it, given that her heavy debt birthed all of this into fruition to begin with.”
Mac has been advised that she would most likely be imprisoned, and she has pretty much accepted this.
Mac ended up sneaking out of the home to drown her sorrows alone in Salt after spending a final day with Dean and Ziggy (Sophie Dillman) doing everything she loves.
The next morning, John (Shane Withington) discovered her passed out on the sofa, and when Dean and Ziggy arrived, Mac burst into tears as her worries surfaced.
“Filming this storyline was an incredible whirlwind,” Emily added. “It was high intensity and full of emotion all the way through.”

As we return to the action this week, Mac gathers herself as she prepares for her day in court, and in order to tie up any loose ends, she decides to sell Salt.
Flick arrives at work to find a letter from Mac, and is shocked to learn that she’s been put in charge of the business.
“Mac really doesn’t think she’s coming back,” Flick exclaims to Tane.
At the farmhouse, Mac hugs Ziggy as she and Dean prepare to leave for what could be the final time, and she asks Ziggy to look after her brother.
With Dean to support her, Mac leaves for court to learn her fate…. will she end up in prison?
This week in Summer Bay, Chloe (Sam Barrett) begins working at the gym after a pep talk with Leah (Ada Nicodemou), and she is about to discover a tremendous secret.
Last week, Chloe found herself at a loss while her new boyfriend Theo (Matt Evans) focused on his TAFE assignment.
Despite Chloe’s continuous attempts to persuade Theo that spending time with her would be more enjoyable, he managed to resist since he couldn’t afford to fail another project.
Leah offered to Chloe that they brainstorm some ideas on how she could fill her time because she couldn’t get any more employment at the diner. Leah questioned if Chloe would consider re-enrolling after hearing from Irene that she was planned to attend business school, which was right before Chloe learned the terrible truth about her father.
Chloe was uninterested, telling Tane (Ethan Browne) that all of this discourse brought back too many memories of what happened with her father, but Tane came up with the right answer by recommending she start simple, like doing the gym’s books.
Whilst Tane is all over the physical side of things at the gym, he’s not too hot on the accounts and could really use the help.
Chloe, on the other hand, doesn’t take long to notice certain inconsistencies. When she follows the trail of paper, she discovers the amount Mia and Ari (Rob Kipa-Williams) paid for the gym last year… in cash!
Chloe is perplexed as to how Mia and Ari got their hands on so much money, but Tane quickly shuts her down, which only adds to her interest.
Mia and Ari were desperate to adopt a child after Mia’s miscarriage last year, so the purchase came at a good moment. When Jasmine (Sam Frost) put the gym up for sale, the two realised that owning a business would provide them with a solid financial foundation, which would be beneficial to their case—especially given Ari’s criminal history.
The only way the two could come up with the money was to use the proceeds from an armed robbery Ari had committed over a decade ago, which Mia had kept stored away in a storage unit.
Ari was enraged when he discovered Mia had already placed a deposit down with the cash he’d spent years in prison regretting its existence.
Finally, with Tane’s help, Ari grudgingly made arrangements with a contact to have the money laundered into a more respectable bank cheque, and the money was accepted for the purchase with a sigh of relief.
With Ari now having passed away, and Mia having left the bay, Tane has been gifted full ownership of the gym… along with its dodgy origins.
Is Chloe’s digging about to cause trouble for Tane, or could it bring her a sudden financial windfall?
