Georgie Stone, star of Neighbours, has confirmed that she will skip her own Tribeca Film Festival premiere in order to appear in the show’s last episodes.
The actress, who portrays Mackenzie Hargreaves on the long-running drama, has announced that she will be presenting a very personal short film at this year’s festival in New York City.
Georgie is the subject of a short documentary called The Dreamlife of Georgie Stone, which follows her from birth to adulthood and highlights her amazing advocacy.
Georgie made history as the youngest person in Australia to get hormone blockers long before her stint on Neighbours.
She was successful in changing the law so that other young transgender persons may receive this treatment without having to go through the nation’s Family Court.
While the prospect of a Tribeca premiere for Georgie’s film was exhilarating, it also presented a challenge for her because the festival coincides with the final episodes of Neighbours, which will air in June.

“It does clash with the finale of Neighbours,” Georgie told Digital Spy. I had to make a decision, and I went with Neighbours.
“Unfortunately, I will not be travelling to New York. It’s a pity, but how could I pass up the final season of Neighbours?
“First and foremost, I’m contractually bound!” Second, even if I wasn’t, I’d do it anyhow since this is a historic moment. This 37-year-old Australian legend is about to come to an end.
“I need to be a part of that, and I need to finish Mackenzie’s tale, which I’ve been working on for the past three years.” As a result, I’ll be there!”
“There will be more premieres for the film,” she noted. There will be more opportunities when it debuts on Netflix later this year.”
The final scenes of Neighbours will be shot on June 10, with a number of famous figures returning in time for the finale.
Following Channel 5’s decision to cancel the show, which left production company Fremantle with a cash shortage, the renowned soap is coming to an end.
