Sam Frost reveals the personal reasons she decided to quit her “dream job” Home and Away

Fans of Home and Away were devastated when Sam Frost announced her departure from the show.

After five years as Jasmine Delaney on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, the former Bachelor and Bachelorette star has stated she is leaving to focus on her mental health.

The 32-year-old explained her decision on her Believe by Sam Frost Instagram account, accompanying a photo of a retweet about Ash Barty’s decision to retire from tennis to focus on her mental health.

“I quit my dream job at Home and Away to look after my mental health. I needed to take a step back, go home and be with my family,” Sam began.

“And most importantly, take good care of my health and well-being. I now spend the days with the people I love, doing the things I’ve always wanted to do but couldn’t because I was too busy working. I spent 4.5 years being a distant friend, a distant girlfriend, a sister who couldn’t be there for big milestone moments. Now, I’m making up for a lost time.”

The blonde beauty went on to say that her priorities have shifted and that she now wants to focus on the more essential aspects of her life, which work has taken away from.

“I’m prioritizing my health and my relationships. Sometimes I wake up and panic about money, work, and being able to afford my mortgage.. but then I remind myself of the importance of putting our mental health first, and taking time out to heal our mind, body & soul. The rest will fall into place ✨ #healing.”

During an interview with Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa last week, Sam’s former Home and Away co-star Lynne McGranger explained the reason she believes Sam left the show and proclaimed that there will always be a place for her.

“She spoke to me, can I just say the door is not closed, it’s very much an open door. Sam needed to be with her family and they are down in Melbourne,” Lynne said.

“There were some issues of course with getting vaccinated but I’m here to tell you she is double vaccinated now, possibly boosted as well. She needed to be with her family, but the door is definitely open for her to come back.

“The way that she is currently gone from the bay, there is plenty of room for her to come back and I’m sure, that as we speak, she is in negotiations with the producers.”

When asked if she departed because of the vaccine mandate, Sam said no, which sparked outrage when she disclosed in October that she hadn’t been vaccinated and had to leave production early because of Channel Seven’s decision to make vaccinations mandatory.

Although Lynne also confirmed Sam is now vaccinated.

“She missed her family, I can’t speak for Sam, but she really missed her family down in Melbourne, and that’s where she needs to be,” Lynne said.

“She’s never made a secret of the fact that she does struggle with her anxiety, that is out there and is a great thing to make public, but she needed to be with her family and the producers being clever and smart and certainly compassionate, said ‘You go and do what you need to do Sam, the door is open for you to come back and we’d love you to come back.”
